Good luck in Switzerland to Scots College
With most teenagers looking forward to Christmas, 11 students from The Scots College received an early present, being selected in the Australian team to compete in the 2016 International Children’s Winter Games in Austria early next year.
Following unprecedented success for The Scots College in the 2015 Snowsports season, athletes will be competing in a range of events including Cross Country Skiing, Freestyle Ski and Snowboard, and Alpine Skiing.
An intensive training program in Switzerland precedes the Games, before athletes fly in to Innsbruck, Austria to take part in the seventh Winter Games.
Competing in Cross Country will be Chester Burns (14), Charlie Burns (12), Hugo Hinckfuss (12), and Tom Weinert (13). The Freestyle Ski team includes Scots athletes Ethan Cheung (13) and Oliver Logan (12), while James Whitfield (14) and Kody Pitt (13) will compete in Snowboard events. Thomas Fenton-Lee (14), Marcus Mead (14) and Robert Zeilic (13) will all compete in Alpine Skiing.
Dr Ian PM Lambert, Principal at The Scots College spoke highly of the boys’ achievements, both throughout the 2015 Snowsports season and of their selection to the Australian team. “We are proud of the dedication and commitment shown by these fine young men. They have shown a determination to succeed throughout the Snowsports season and have been rewarded for their passion and perseverance with this selection. We wish them all the best in their endeavours in Austria.”
